FINALIST: Jack In The Box.

JACK in the Box is a social enterprise which supports disabled, abused or neglected children.

Based on Victoria Road in Middlesbrough, Jack In The Box (JITB) was established in July 2012 by former Teesside University student Mahe Gladdon.

Her company has grown from strength to strength.

It offers fun and varied activities, from paintballing to pizza-making, for children and young people who need additional support and their families. Nominating the company, Carey O'Brian said the team has worked hard to create opportunities for and to inspire children and young people.

"The team have worked really hard on coming up with new ideas for activities for both term time and holiday time," she said.

"All of the families that JITB help with the activities will agree that JITB is the best thing that has been created for their children."

Mahe came to Teesside to study for a degree in sport and exercise with the intention of qualifying to become a PE teacher.

It was watching participants in the Beijing Paralympic Games that changed her career path.

"Their positive attitude and determination to get on with life proved an inspiration," said Mahe.

After bagging a job with a sports coaching company that delivered activities for children with disabilities, she eventually took the plunge and branched out on her own.

She now has more than 100 children on her books at Jack in the Box.
