FILENET: SHAREHOLDER LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FILENET

COSTA MESA, Calif., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- FileNet Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: FILE) stated today that a class action has been filed by one of its stockholders naming FileNet and FileNet's president and senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer as defendants. The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, alleges that during the period from Feb. 13, 1992 through Jan. 4, 1993, the price of FileNet stock was artificially inflated as a result of allegedly inaccurate SEC filings and other public statements made by defendants during the period.
Ted Smith, president and chief executive officer of FileNet stated that the suit is without merit and that the defendants intend to vigorously contest the suit.
