FIJI'S EXCLUSIVE TURTLE ISLAND OFFERS COUPLES AND FAMILIES AN UNFORGETTABLE WINTER HOLIDAY

TURTLE ISLAND, Fiji, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- If the traditional holiday cruise or mountain getaway has become as routine as the seasonal rush-hour traffic and shopping mall stampedes, consider escaping to Turtle Island this winter.
Fiji's Turtle Island resort offers winter travelers the ultimate vacation in a South Pacific paradise worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the hectic winter holiday season. While the 500-acre resort caters mainly to couples and is known as one of the world's most romantic vacation destinations, between mid-December and mid-January families can enjoy Turtle's one-of-a-kind vacation experience.
"Family weeks on Turtle Island are becoming more popular each year," says resort owner Richard Evanson. "Far removed from the obligations of the modern world, Turtle Island provides families with a rare and unique opportunity to spend undistracted time together, exploring a beautiful, natural environment and experiencing the warm, friendly culture of the Fijian people."
What's a good way to whet the children's appetites for a Turtle Island holiday? Evanson suggests renting the 1980 motion picture "The Blue Lagoon," starring Brooke Shields. The film was shot entirely on the island, as was the 1949 version starring Jean Simmons.
A 30-minute seaplane ride from the Fijian city of Nadi, Turtle Island has unlimited opportunities for privacy, relaxation and adventure. In addition to some of the world's best deep-sea fishing and scuba diving, Turtle's activities include nature hikes and visits to native villages on neighboring islands, wind surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, boating, horseback riding and picnicking on one's own private beach.
While at the outset many couples indulge in a romantic dinner for two at one of the island's several remote dining sites, inevitably most guests look forward to each evening's group dinner party on the beach. Turtle's exceptional cuisine varies daily and can include everything from breakfasts of lobster omelets, banana pancakes and island fruits, to dinner feasts of freshly caught crab or prime Australian beef and garden vegetables -- all complemented by fine imported liquors, wines and champagnes.
Pampered by Turtle's staff of more than 70 Fijians from neighboring islands, guests are accommodated in 14 Fijian-style "bures" (cottages) along the shores of the famous blue lagoon. Each private, two-room suite is equipped with two bathrooms, a wet bar and a fully stocked refrigerator.
Turtle's all-inclusive rate of $740 per couple per day includes unlimited food and beverages and all activities during the minimum six- night stay. The rate for children under 12 is $185 per day. Rates for children under two are available upon request. Seaplane fare from Nadi is $520 per couple and $130 per child.
