FIGGIE MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEMS WINS BRITISH TRADE GROUP AWARD

 WILLOUGHBY, Ohio, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Figgie Material Handling Systems, a division of Figgie International (NASDAQ: FIGI), has been honored by a British transport industry organization for "its successful application of modern technology advocating innovative product design."
 Figgie Material Handling Systems' Logan Fename operations, based in Hull, England, won the Institute of Transport Management's (ITM) "Award of Excellence" for Conveyor Systems Manufacturer of 1993. The ITM's awards system is aimed at raising industry standards.
 "We are delighted that the ITM has recognized our efforts to meet the growing demand for efficient material handling products through world class manufacturing," said Edward M. Ferris, president of Figgie Material Handling Systems.
 The ITM's Patrick Sheedy said, "Logan Fenamec's highly qualified engineers are no strangers to the concept of customer orientation. Consequently many industries, notably the airport industry, have profited from the company's top class service."
 Figgie Material Handling Systems makes custom and pre-engineered conveyor systems, high-speed sorting and handling systems, airport baggage and handling equipment and air cargo handling equipment.
