FIDELITY MEDICAL NAMES CFO AND ELECTS CEO OF SUBSIDIARY AND COO TO BOARD
FLORHAM PARK, N.J., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark S. Hoffman, 31, a director of Fidelity Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: FMSI), since February 1992, was elected as vice president-finance and administration and chief financial officer of the company. Mr. Hoffman reports to Werner J. Haas, president and chief executive officer, who joined Fidelity Medical from Siemens A.G. in July.
Dr. Haas commented today, "The addition of Mark, along with the election of Hank Keller as chief operating officer last month, now completes the senior management team necessary to set strategies and move the company forward. As a member of the board's special management committee which supervised the company's operations from May until the end of August, Mark has provided valuable management input and has demonstrated the ability to direct several key functions of the company such as internal controls, cash management, budgeting and financial relations."
Mr. Hoffman joins Fidelity Medical from Commonwealth Associates, where he was director of corporate finance. Previously, he was a vice president in corporate finance at Drexel Burnham Lambert, and he began his investment banking career at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb.
Mr. Hoffman holds a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Eytan Malits, 47, who has managed the company's Israeli subsidiary operations since 1986, was recently named president and chief executive officer of the company's wholly-owned subsidiary, Fidelity Medical (Israel) Ltd. In addition, Mr. Malits has been elected to the board of directors of the U.S. parent company. Prior to joining Fidelity Medical, Mr. Malits was president of Elgal Instrumentation and Systems Ltd., and worked for 13 years at Rafael, a major Israeli defense contractor, where he held progressively more responsible positions as manager of a research and development department and head of new business development. Mr. Malits holds an M.B.A. degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology.
In addition, Henry F. Keller, vice president and chief operating officer, who joined the company in August 1992, has been elected to the company's board of directors. His broad international management experience in the medical imaging industry includes prior senior management positions at Howmedica Inc., Becton Dickinson, Elscint, Inc., Picker Corporation, and the Imaging Sciences, Inc., subsidiary of Merrill Lynch.
Fidelity Medical's products include systems for real-time digital image display of certain x-ray and catheterization procedures; condensed image storage using optical disk technology which replaces cumbersome and more expensive film archives; and other innovative microprocessor- based cardiodiagnostic devices.
