FIDELITY ANNOUNCES FOX AND TOUCHTONE TRADER
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move to meet investors'

increasing needs for fast and easy access to the financial exchanges and to real-time information, today Fidelity Investments introduced Fidelity On-line Xpress (FOX) -- a PC-based software trading package. In addition, the company is also about to launch Fidelity TouchTone Trader - a new automated telephone trading service. Together these new products bring investors into a new era of electronic investing.
With a personal computer, investors can use Fidelity On-line Xpress to trade directly on-line with the financial markets at an additional 10 percent discount over Fidelity's low commissions. FOX provides customers with real-time quotes on stocks, options, mutual funds, bonds and market indicators; up-to-the-minute business and financial news and information from Dow Jones News/Retrieval; and on-line access to research and analytical services from Telescan and Standard & Poor's. In addition, FOX provides tax recordkeeping capabilities such as capital gains reports, tax lot tracking and preparation of tax information in a Schedule D format. Customers can analyze their performance with built-in portfolio management reports from "Managing Your Money."
Fidelity first offered customers computer trading capabilities in 1984 with Investors EXPRESS. FOX represents the next generation in PC-based trading products.
Using a touchtone phone, TouchTone Trader enables investors to trade directly with the financial markets, also at an additional 10 percent discount. TouchTone Trader's easy-to-use prompts guide customers through each transaction. On-line help is also available. Investors can trade listed and over-the-counter stocks, and buy, sell, or exchange mutual funds held in a Fidelity brokerage account. Execution reports are available.
"FOX and TouchTone Trader give our customers a new level of speed, convenience, and personal control in managing all of their investments," said Susanne Mahoney, senior vice president of brokerage marketing at Fidelity. "This is essential in a world where markets are moving quickly and people have grown accustomed to accessing information instantly."
Fidelity On-line Xpress was jointly developed with MECA Software, Inc., and Fidelity Investments. "Investors in the 1990s are a sophisticated group who want the best tools possible to make informed decisions about their finances," said Daniel Schley, president of MECA. "Fidelity On-line Xpress will enable investors to trade quickly and easily, simplify tax recordkeeping, and manage their portfolios."
Investors can sign up for TouchTone Trader or FOX by calling 800-544-7272.
Fidelity Investments manages more than $165 billion in mutual fund assets in retail and institutional accounts. Through Fidelity Brokerage, established in 1978, investors are able to trade stocks, bonds and options as well as U.S. Government or municipal securities at a savings of up to 65 percent over a full-cost broker. Fidelity customers have an additional $50 billion in securities in Fidelity Brokerage accounts.
