FGIR to hold probe into train crash.
LAHORE -- The federal government inspector of railways (FGIR) will hold an inquiry into the accident involving Green Line Express and a freight train on May 22 near the Lahore Railway Station.
FGIR Dost Ali Leghari will start an inquiry at the committee room of Lahore Divisional Superintendent's Office from May 28 to 30.
A press release issued on Thursday said any member of the public having knowledge of the incident and matters connected therewith and desirous of giving evidence might do so on the abovementioned dates and places or write to the FGIR office at the PR Headquarters on Allama Iqbal Road, until June 5.
Rawalpindi-bound Green Line Express had on May 22 smashed into a freight train halted near the washing line soon after it left the Lahore station at 2:40pm. The freight train was halted there after the outer signal of the Lahore Railway Station developed a fault.
No passenger of the Green Line Express was injured. The locomotive of Green Line Express and the brake van of the freight train were damaged in the accident.
