FERST ANNOUNCES WASTE SUPPLY TERMS AND TURNKEY CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR PROPOSED 340 TPD SOLID WASTE RECYCLING AND COMPOSTING FACILITY
BALTIMORE, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- F&E Resource Systems Technology, Inc. (FERST) (NASDAQ: FERS), today announced it had established the basic terms of an agreement for the supply of waste to the company's proposed 340 TPD solid waste recycling and composting facility planned for Prince George's County, Md. Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) (NYSE: BFI) has agreed to supply 100 percent of the waste required for the project under a combination of long- and short-term contracts. BFI is the 100 percent supplier for a similar facility already under construction in the Curtis Bay section of Baltimore. The Baltimore and Prince George's facilities combined will have the capability of processing and recycling approximately 2 million pounds of trash per day. The Prince George's facility will cost approximately $25 million and increase FERST's commitment to recycling in Maryland to nearly $70 million.
The company also announced the selection of Rader Companies, a division of Beloit Corporation, as the turnkey contractor for the proposed Prince George's project. Rader will be responsible for the design, construction, procurement, installation, operational testing and performance demonstration of the facility.
Ronald W. Pickett, president of FERST, said, "We are pleased to have both BFI and Rader involved with us in this project. Their many years of industry experience have already proven invaluable to us."
