FERRI NAMED DIRECTOR, MEDIA RELATIONS, OF NASD
WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of

Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD), announced today that Robert Ferri has been named director, Media Relations, effective immediately.
Ferri, 37, succeeds Enno Hobbing, who retired on Jan. 1 as vice president, News Bureau, after 16 years with the NASD. Hobbing will continue his association with the NASD as a consultant. In conjunction with the staff changes, the News Bureau is being renamed the Media Relations Department, to more properly reflect its expanding responsibilities.
"With more than 163 million shares being traded each day in The Nasdaq Stock Market, keeping the investing public informed about the market's developments is one of our most important mandates," said Douglas F. Parrillo, senior vice president, Corporate Communications. "During the past three years, Bob has done much to enhance our communications activities. He is ideally suited to build on our efforts to provide the media with accurate and timely information on initiatives of both the NASD and Nasdaq."
Ferri joined the NASD in 1988 as manager, Press Relations from the staff of the late U.S. Sen. John Heinz, where he served as communications director. Previously, he was a columnist and reporter in the Washington bureau of Thomson Newspapers, Inc. He was also the founder and president of the Amherst News, a weekly newspaper in Massachusetts, as well as a news editor and editor-in-chief of two Massachusetts dailies. Ferri is a graduate of Westfield State College and holds a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University.
