 FELIX THE CAT ADAPTS TO THE TIMES;
 BEGINS SEVENTH DECADE WITH LAUNCH OF CHILDREN'S VIDEO GAME
 SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Felix the Cat, beginning his seventh decade in show business, will be introduced to another generation of young fans as a video game star for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game (for ages 7-12) will reach retailers' shelves today, announced game developer Hudson Soft USA.
 Felix the Cat was animation's first international superstar, appearing in the 1920s in both silent movie shorts and a syndicated newspaper strip. Felix, once called the Charlie Chaplin of cartoons, was Charles Lindbergh's mascot for the first transatlantic solo flight. He was also the first image broadcast over television. Much of Felix's appeal came from his cartoonists' ingenious talent for "breaking the fourth wall" which allowed Felix to use traditional aspects of the cartoon environment to overcome challenges. For example, Felix used his speech balloon as a parachute and his pointy ears as a scissors.
 "Through the video game, a new generation of children will not only be introduced to Felix but will have the ability to control the actions of one of animation's most popular characters," said Hudson Soft USA Vice President Dick Larkin.
 The game is already receiving rave previews citing its "play-ability," "fun" and "virtual absence of violence."
 "Even the sound never creates the tense or scary mood found in some action games," said GAMEPRO magazine which also deemed the game superb in its October issue. "In Felix the Cat for the NES, Hudson Soft dips into Felix's bag and comes up with magic." "Big characters and a cartoony style create the illusion that this is a playable cartoon." The review concludes, "Felix the Cat is fun...Its landslide of levels and abundance of Magic Items will keep folks engaged. It's purr-fect for NES gamers."
 Said NINTENDO POWER in its September Felix cover story: "That wonderful cat, Felix, has arrived from Hudson Soft with his magic bag of tricks. The result is lots of feline fun for your NES, starring one of the best-loved comic figures of the last 50 years."
 "The theme is killer and brings back one of the coolest cartoon characters around," said ELECTRONIC GAMING MONTHLY. "Easily one of the most enjoyable NES games to come out this year."
 "A great game. The cat's meow," wrote GAME PLAYERS magazine in its October issue.
 October's GAME INFORMER magazine, which also featured Felix on the cover, said that Felix is a great family game: " ... this game will serve as the introduction of one of America's oldest and most-loved cartoon characters to a whole new generation."
 November's VIDEOGAMES & COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT called Felix, " ... a terrific eight-bit NES game, one that makes comparable carts starring the Flintstones, Mickey Mouse and the Tasmanian Devil seem like Kitty litter by comparison." In praising its "hair-trigger control," the magazine's reviewer also states: "This is simply the most responsive NES game I've ever played, more user-friendly than Megaman, less clumsy than Mario."
 The Felix the Cat video game brings back Felix's familiar sidekicks and enemies. In the game scenario, the crafty Professor kidnaps Felix's girlfriend Kitty hoping to get Felix's Magic Bag of Tricks as ransom. The game traces Felix's adventures as he uses his Magic Bag to befuddle the Professor and rescue Kitty.
 Felix will be available in most national retail stores including Toys R Us; Kay Bee Toy Stores; Lionel Leisure; G & G/Captron; Babbages; Software, Etc.; Electronics Boutique; K Mart; WalMart and Sears Catalog.
 Hudson Soft USA Inc., based in San Francisco, is the U.S. subsidiary of software and game publisher Hudson Soft Co. Ltd. of Sapporo, Japan. The parent company was the first developer to be licensed for Nintendo's 8-bit NES system.
