FEEIT works on development and promotion of regional cooperation.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) is a leading higher education institution in the Republic of Macedonia. As a Dean leading the Faculty assisted by the vice-deans for education, finances and cooperation, and research and international cooperation, prof. Hristina Spasevska, prof. Dimitar Taskovski and prof. Aleksandar Risteski, respectively and with the contribution of all the other professors and colleagues, we are proud that the Faculty grows towards a most prestigious brand in higher education. Through the education process, we create young professionals with competences and skills matching the needs of companies and institutions not only in the Republic of Macedonia, but also worldwide. We tend to combine the theory and practice in an optimal way: students learn the theory with problem-solving approach, practice in our laboratories and complete mandatory practical work at companies. FEEIT cooperates with more than 150 companies in this regard. In most cases, after the internships in the companies, the students are offered an employment in the same companies. Besides the education process, FEEIT performs fruitful research work through a number of successfully completed and current research projects.

The Faculty is recognized as an institution with a highest number of projects realized by the professors, researchers and students. Within the projects, FEEIT cooperates with more than 200 universities and companies worldwide.

We are proud that FEEIT attracts the best graduates from high schools in Macedonia. In the last enrollment process, more than 50% of all candidates had score of more than 90 points (out of 100). This fact leads to a conclusion that the Faculty is highly attractive for the new generations of students. The reason for this is the quality of the education process. But, FEEIT is also attractive for the companies because of the high quality engineers we produce; by the partners because of the huge contribution in the realized projects; for the University and the country because FEEIT is leading institution devoted to excellent education, science, cooperation with industry, regional and international cooperation, thus contributing to improvement the quality of life in general.

Few facts about FEEIT: it was founded in 1959 within the Technical Faculty in the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje. In 1977, the Faculty became a separate legal entity and a constitutive member of the University, which is the oldest, the biggest and the best university (first ranked in the Shanghai Jiao Tong University list for Macedonia). The current name of the Faculty was assigned in 2006. For 55 years, FEEIT is a leader in producing top-quality professionals in all areas of electrical engineering and information technologies. More than 8000 engineers, 1000 MSc and 110 PhD candidates have graduated at FEEIT. The Faculty has 32 full professors, 11 associate professors, XX assistant professors, 40 teaching and research assistants and 35 technical staff. The educational and research activities are organized in 9 institutes.

It is great honor for me to lead the best higher institution in Macedonia which gives significant contribution not only in the country, but also in the region and European scientific space. In the following pages, we will present few instances of the rich regional cooperation experience of FEEIT in the scientific field.

Cooperation between FEEIT and other faculties in the region

Over the 55 years of existance, FEEIT has established fruitful cooperation with more than 200 faculties from many countries worldwide, but mainly from USA, Europe (Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Nederland, Poland, Turkey, Russia...) and of course, countries from the SEE region (Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia). Mainly, the cooperation between FEEIT and other faculties is within projects funded by EC (TEMPUS, FP5, FP6, FP7, HORIZON 2020,.), NATO, bilateral agreements between countries etc. Also, large part of joint activities include: joint research papers, guest lectures, visiting professors, exchange students and participation to conferences organized by FEEIT or other faculties. FEEIT maintains strong links with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, Faculty of Electronics in Nis, Technical Faculty in Novi Sad, Serbia, Technical University in Sofia, Bulgaria, Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece, Faculties of electrical engineering and Ljubljana and Maribor, Jozef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Faculty of electrical engineering and computing--FER, Zagreb, Croatia and Faculty of electrical engineering in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

International projects

Participation in international projects is the main form of cooperation of FEEIT with other faculties, research institutions and companies. In the last 15 years (2000-2014), more than 100 international projects were successfully completed at FEEIT. Some of these projects were leaded/coordinated by FEEIT, but in most of them, FEEIT acted as a member of a project consortium. The project types varied from many aspects: educational, research or development projects; projects with small consortium (from minimum 2 partners in bilateral projects to more than 20 partners in large EC-funded FP7 projects); short-term or long-term projects (from 6 to 60 months); low budget to high budget projects (from 10,000 EUR to 20,000,000 EUR in total) etc. In almost all these projects, partners from SEE region were also included besides FEEIT, which helped to maintain the connections and broaden and deepen the collaboration between FEEIT and other faculties.

A list of several ongoing and recently finished international projects at FEEIT includes:

* FARAMIR--Flexible and spectrum Aware Radio Access through Measurements and modeling in cognitive Radio system EC FP7 Project

* ACROPOLIS--Advanced coexistence technologies for radio optimization and unlicensed spectrum, EC
