FEDERAL-MOGUL ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE AUSTRALIAN AFTERMARKET BUSINESS

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Dennis J. Gormley, chairman and chief executive officer of Federal-Mogul Corporation (NYSE: FMO), today announced the company's wholly owned subsidiary, Federal-Mogul Pty. Ltd., has reached an agreement to acquire the automotive aftermarket business and certain assets of Brown & Dureau Automotive Pty. Limited, based in Melbourne, Australia. The agreement is subject to various conditions which must be satisfied before the proposed transaction is completed.
Brown & Dureau is a subsidiary of Amcor Limited, an Australian-based international integrated packaging and paper company. Its automotive division is one of Australia's foremost importers and distributors of automotive replacement parts. Brown & Dureau trades under the names of Angus International and Automotive Trade Parts.
"This acquisition will complement our existing aftermarket business in Australia," Gormley said. "It will expand our product offering and customer base in that country, and allow us to realize significant efficiencies by consolidating the two businesses."
Terms and conditions of the agreement -- expected to be completed in the second quarter -- will not materially affect Federal-Mogul, Gormley said.
Headquartered in Southfield, Federal-Mogul is a global distributor and manufacturer of a broad range of precision parts primarily for automobiles, light trucks, heavy trucks, and farm and construction vehicles. It operates 34 plants, more than 70 distribution centers and four major research centers around the world.
