 FEDERAL RESERVE APPOINTS THOMAS R. RICKETTS
 TO THRIFT INSTITUTIONS ADVISORY COUNCIL
 TROY, Mich., Dec. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard Federal Bank (NYSE: SFB) announced today that its president and chairman, Thomas R. Ricketts, has been appointed by the Federal Reserve Board to the Thrift Institutions Advisory Council (TIAC).
 The Council is an advisory group made up of 12 representatives from thrift institutions, that meets quarterly with the Board of Governors to discuss developments relating to thrift institutions, the housing industry, mortgage finance and certain regulatory issues. Ricketts was invited to serve on the Council for a two-year term, beginning Jan. 1, 1992.
