FCC GRANTS INFINITY CONSENT TO ACQUIRE WFAN NEW YORK, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Infinity Broadcasting Corporation
(NASDAQ: INFTA) announced today that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted its consent to the acquisition of New York radio station WFAN-AM by the company. Infinity announced on Dec. 16, 1991, that it had entered into an agreement to acquire WFAN-AM for approximately $70 million. The company expects to consummate the acquisition of WFAN-AM by April 1992.
WFAN-AM programs an "all sports" format including play by plan of the New York Mets, Knicks and Rangers. WFAN is also the radio home of "Imus in the Morning" and "Mike and the Mad Dog" in the afternoon. Infinity also owns and operates WXRK-FM in New York.
