FATHER/SON CELEBRITY GUESTS HIGHLIGHT 'FILM FEST '92'

ON BOARD MS NOORDAM'S SPRING 10-DAY BERMUDA/CARIBBEAN CRUISES
SEATTLE, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- James Earl Jones and his father, actor Robert Earl Jones, and Alan Arkin, with his actor son Adam Arkin, will highlight Holland America Line's three star-studded, 10-day Bermuda/Caribbean cruises from New York this spring, Holland America Line said today.
Film Fest '92, a month-long film festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of motion pictures in America, will take place on board the three cruises. The 1,214-passenger Noordam sails from New York on March 29, April 8 and 18, 1992.
In addition to the full complement of on-board activities and entertainment, Film Fest '92 will offer passengers a special bonus: an array of stars, films and filmmakers, including a film premiere on each cruise.
The director of this special festival will be Richard Brown, professor of film and media studies at The New School in New York City. Brown recently completed a 20-part, award-winning television series, "Reflections on the Silver Screen," produced by the Library of Congress and aired on the American Movie Classics Network. All of the "Reflections" programs, featuring interviews with screen legends such as Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, Robert Mitchum and Jack Lemmon, will be aired on the ship's closed circuit television.
With the cruise departure dates approaching, commitments from film stars who will accompany Brown are taking shape.
Robert Earl Jones, while best remembered by movie-goers for his role in the opening of "The Sting," has gained new celebrity as one of the oldest runner to consistently finish the New York Marathon.
Adam Arkin, a 1989 Tony Award nominee, has been starring in the hit television series "Northern Exposure."
The Arkins will be aboard the March 29 cruise and the Joneses will accompany Holland America passengers on the April 18 cruise. Other actors being scheduled for the cruises include Jerry Orbach, Charles Durning, Rita Moreno, Gena Rowlands, Ron Silver and Cliff Robertson.
Brown said the stars were selected for the series not only for their successful careers, but for their personal charm and cooperative spirit. "We wanted movie stars who are warm to their public, who will be happy to mingle with Holland America passengers aboard ship," he said.
Film Fest '92 also will feature continuous screenings of the best new movies, interviews with the guest stars and industry experts, and discussions about movie making.
Films scheduled to premiere on these cruises are "Love Field," starring Michelle Pfeiffer (March 29 sailing); "Clifford," starring Martin Short (April 8); and "Gladiator," starring Brian Dennehy (April 18).
On all three cruises, the Noordam will call at Hamilton, Bermuda; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Philipsburg, St. Maarten. Cruise-only fares start at just $1,745 per person, double occupancy.
Holland America Line's 10-day Bermuda/Caribbean cruises from New York feature a low-cost air add-on program from major U.S. gateways, and free motorcoach transportation from selected Northeast cities.
Holland America cruises offer a "Tradition of Excellence," including spacious staterooms, superb dining, renowned service, casino, first-rate entertainment, the free "Passport to Fitness" activity program, and complete fitness center, coupled with popular "tipping not required" and "cashless" ship policies.
