FAMILY AIRLINES STARTS FIRST LARGE WAVE OF HIRING

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Family Airlines, the new airline for budget-conscious travelers, has started its first large wave of hiring and begun moving into its new corporate headquarters near McCarran International Airport.
The carrier is hiring approximately 150 customer service representatives, mostly from the Las Vegas area, to handle reservations and ticketing. About 350 flight attendants are being hired from Las Vegas and around the country. Family has already offered employment to about 70 pilots and filled a number of key management positions.
Family Airlines' headquarters is located at 3035 East Patrick Lane, about one-half mile from McCarran's East-West runway, where the carrier has a five-year lease on a new 30,000-square-foot office complex. The complex will house Family's management, flight crew and reservations personnel.
Persons seeking employment with Family Airlines are asked not to show up at Family's headquarters without first scheduling an interview with the company. To schedule an interview, interested applicants are asked to send resumes to Family's headquarters.
In other news at Family Airlines, the carrier announced it will be using Gate C 5 and the ticket counter formerly used by American Airlines when it launches service at McCarran.
Family plans to begin service to major U.S. cities in early February with Boeing 747 aircraft. Fares are 40 percent to 60 percent less than the lowest fares in the market. There will be one low fare for each route for every flight, every day.
For example, passengers will pay just $249 to fly roundtrip between Las Vegas and Newark and just $49 to fly roundtrip between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. There will be no advance purchase or Saturday night stay-over requirements. Tickets are non-refundable.
The airline expects to receive approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation later this month.
