FACTOR FERGIE; HE'S 71..RETIRED.. BUT STILL PULLING THE STRINGS; Murray going all the way.. with a little help from Sir Alex; FERGIE ADVICE IS KILT-EDGED.

Byline: NEIL McLEMAN

SIR ALEX FERGUSON has sprinkled his "gold dust" over Andy Murray's bid to win Wimbledon.

The former Manchester United boss was in the Royal Box to watch his fellow Scot reach today's semi-final against Jerzy Janowicz.

And after moving to within two victories of the title, the Olympic champion revealed Fergie gave him a pep talk on handling the pressures of home expectations. "I spoke to him for 15 or 20 minutes after the match," said Murray.

"We talked about a lot of things - about his retirement, a lot about football and then at the end I spoke to him, not so much about the match, but about everything that goes with it.

"He was more just giving me advice on how to handle certain pressures and expectations.

"Getting that sort of advice from someone like him is gold dust so I'm not going to be sharing too much of it."
