FAA AWARDS $69 MILLION CONTRACT TO PARAMAX
 FOR TERMINAL SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Paramax Systems Corporation, a subsidiary of Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS), announced today that it has been awarded a $69 million contract, initially funded at $5 million, from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) covering software, life cycle support and software re-engineering activities for the Terminal Software Development (TSD) program.
Paramax will provide life cycle software support for four major FAA terminal air traffic control systems, including Automated Radar Terminal System (ARTS) IIA, ARTS IIIA, ARTS IIIE and EARTS (Enroute ARTS), plus systems support. Future program options include firmware maintenance, re-engineering the ARTS IIIE software and providing data link capability in all the ARTS systems. The contract supports Paramax's strategic commitment to its air traffic control business and emphasizes its core competency in software engineering.
The program will be performed over the next 2 years plus 8 single-year options, with Paramax adding approximately 90 software engineering people at the peak of the program to work at the FAA's Technical Center near Atlantic City, N.J., and at the company's Electronic Systems division in Eagan, Minn. The FAA will utilize this program to help incorporate new software applications in all systems, to enhance air traffic control in terminal airports, and by enabling the control tower to communicate directly with individual aircraft.
"This contract award continues to demonstrate the high degree of confidence

the FAA has in Paramax," said Frederick F. Jenny, president of Paramax Systems Corporation. "I believe our recent successful installation at the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control center (TRACON) and the subsequent award of the ARTS IIIE TRACON were key factors in the selection of Paramax for this award. We continue to be the FAA's leading software and systems engineering contractor for terminal air traffic control. We are proud of the fact that we have had more than 30 years of successful experience in designing and developing computer systems including software, displays, radars and weather systems for the FAA."
