F1 date with superstar DJ.

SUPERSTAR DJ Martin Garrix will be among the entertainment during next year's Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

Details were unveiled yesterday in a Press conference organised by the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

The announcement coincided with the launch of early bird tickets for the race, taking place from March 28 to 31.

"Whilst we will be announcing many more exciting plans for the race over the coming weeks, I would urge fans to get booking their tickets quickly to take advantage of the early bird offer," said BIC commercial director Sherif Al Mahdi.

Activities will take place over four days coinciding with the race, as opposed to three days previously.

It is the second race on the Formula One calendar and attractions will include a ferris wheel for the first time, offering views across the track and beyond, as well as a 60-metre tall Star Flyer and a carousel.

There will also be a Formula One Game Zone, children's attractions, parlour games, roaming performers, stage shows and more.

"This year's entertainment package with Martin Garix is a strong package and we're going to get some good feedback, after negative feedback we got from last year, so we had to fix that," BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa told the GDN.

"We get excited that we have the opportunity challenge ourselves to do better and every year we tell ourselves we can't beat this, but this year with the ferris wheel and Star Flyer it is going to be fantastic.

"Every year we try to raise the bar for our concert programme for F1.

"We are therefore extremely proud to be welcoming the world's greatest DJ, Martin Garrix, as the first in our line-up for the race weekend."

Dutch DJ Martin Garrix, whose hits include Animals, Don't Look Down and There For You, will be performing on at the event on March 29.

The announcement took place at Vox Cinema, located in The Avenues Bahrain, and also present were Gulf Air marketing director Mohammed Jamsheer and other officials.

Tickets to the Grand Prix are being sold online at www.bahraingp.com, through the BIC hotline on 17450000 and at a BIC stand in City Centre Bahrain.

Early bird tickets come with a discount of up to 20 per cent at BIC's Main Grandstand, or 15pc at all other grandstands.

Full price for four-day tickets to the Main Grandstand is BD150 apiece, while four-day tickets to the Batelco Grandstand will cost BD120.

A four-day ticket to the Turn One Grandstand will cost BD100, while four-day tickets to both the University and Victory Grandstands will cost BD60 each.

Friday-only tickets to the Batelco Grandstand will be available for BD60 apiece. There are will also be two-day tickets for Saturday and Sunday to the Batelco Grandstand for BD100 each.

However, under the early bird discount Main Grandstand seating costs BD120 for four days, Batelco Grandstand seats are BD102 each, Turn One Grandstand tickets are BD85, and University and Victory Grandstand seats are BD51 apiece.
