Ezdan offers QR1mn for Civil Defence campaign.

SANTHOSH CHANDRAN DOHA THE Civil Defence department of the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday said that it has extended its awareness campaign, which kicked off on the occasion of the World Civil Defence Day earlier this month, till December 2014.

Ezdan Holding Group in Doha will be the platinum sponsor of about two-yearlong campaign that will feature exhibitions, lectures, seminars, site visits, training programmes and workshops aimed at increasing awareness of both students and safety and security institutes and companies in Qatar about fire safety.

Director-General of the General Directorate of Civil Defence Brig Abdullah Muhammad al Suwaidi announced this while receiving a cheque worth QR1 million from Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdulla al Thani, chairman of Ezdan Holding at a function held at Civil Defence headquarters at Wadi Al Sail.

Suwaidi said, "The government gives top priority to internal security and safety of the residents. However, without the cooperation of the people, it will be difficult to ensure all these. People need to be informed well about the rules, regulations and latest technologies to be helpful to the security personnel." Sheikh Dr Khalid said this was part of Ezdan Group's lasting commitment to carry out its corporate social responsibilities by supporting government and community organisations.

"As a business group interacting with government and community on daily basis, we are proud to join hands with the Civil Defence, which is committed to protecting the lives and property of the citizens and expatriates in the country. The awareness campaign will help Civil Defence achieve its objectives", he remarked.
