Extra Curricular sign record deal.

HIP-HOP collective Extra Curricular have been signed to a new record label.

The seven-piece band have agreed a deal with Pigeonhole Records, run by Huddersfield DJ Doorly.

The world famous DJ said he had linked up with the band after he put the call out for vocalists for some tracks he was working on.

He said: "I've heard about them for a couple of years but because I'm never in Huddersfield I've never got to watch them.

"I checked out some of their stuff Youtube and was blown away so I went to see them in London.

"They fit the label perfectly and they should be a lot bigger than they are.

"I feel like I can help them, they're completely ready for the next step, they just need contacts.

"They don't need any help with the music, they just need people to hear it.

"I'm at the level now where if I give people a CD they listen to it and I've got a few contacts at bigger labels and with managers.

"We're going to do another EP and it's my aim to get them onto a major."

Writing on their website the band said: "We're excited to be working with Doorly and the rest of the Pigeonhole team as we feel the genreless concept of the label perfectly sums up what we are all about.

"Music shouldn''t be about boundaries or borders, the only definitions used should be good and bad."

extracurricularbnd A panel of music experts is set to hold a networking and question and answer event in Huddersfield.

Plugged In Yorkshire will feature two record label executives alongside Embrace's Mike Heaton and top DJ Doorly. The session is at The Media Centre on Tuesday, March 1 at 6pm.
