Extended 'larder life' for flowraps. (Packaging Equipment).

A reclosure system to give flow-wrapped food longer 'larder life' has been launched by Paramount Packaging Systems, newly appointed UK agent for Re-Seal It Sweden, which developed the patented concept.

The Re-Seal It system allows flow-wraps of bacon, sliced cooked meat, cheese and similar food products that are consumed over a period of time to be opened, then reclosed to avoid drying out in the refrigerator.

The system operates with conventional wrapping film, first die-cutting three sides of a rectangle to produce a flap, which is held in place by small notches. A filmic label with peelable adhesive is then applied over the flap and sealed into place under pressure by the existing pinch rollers of the Fuji flow-wrapper's film feed system. This level of pressure provides a seal that is hermetic in quality, allowing high barrier packs to be created and gas flushed for MAP if required.
