Exposure too late for justice.

LITTLE more of the sexual Aperversion that was allowed to gnaw away at our society for decades was revealed yesterday.

Thanks to the police and Crown Prosecution Service, we now know that the late MP Cyril Smith abused young boys. At the same time, evidence that he was doing so was dismissed by the authorities.

Smith's victims may take some comfort from the confirmation of his crimes after all these years, but they would surely have preferred to see him behind bars.

How many more historic sexual crimes are yet to be exposed no one can say, but every one deepens the anger that justice was not done when the criminal was still alive.
