Expert witness celebrates decade of court service.

A LIVERPOOL-BASED occupational health consultant is celebrating a decade as an expert witness.

Rosemary Quinn, who runs Rose White Services Ltd, is a physiotherapist with 30 years of experience and has been on the UK Expert Witness register for 10 years.

She has offered evidence in cases involving unfair benefits decisions, and in settlement cases for people forced out of work due to injury.

Mrs Quinn said: "People in the workplace can be highly adaptable, but they may also put up with conditions that are injuring them.

"I help make sure, in these case, that knowledge of the human body and its tolerance levels is presented to the legal professionals, so informed decisions can be made." One of her cases involved a mother who was claiming benefits after an injury. But the payments were threatened after she was covertly filmed shopping and lifting bags.

She added: "When someone has a long-term injury, they become so used to it, they adapt and find ways of physically behaving that cause them less pain, and mean they can carry on with essential tasks like buying food for their family.

"It does not mean they are not injured, or they are not entitled to extra support, but sometimes this needs expert knowledge to prove."
