ExpectG ermanyt o makea n explosive start against Danes; FOOTBALL.

Byline: Dan Childs

GERMANY hit Holland with a first half masterclass on Wednes day and they could be out of sight by the interval in tonight's decisive Group B clash with Denmark, writes Dan Childs.

A draw would be enough for Germany to progress but that should not discourage them from adopting a positive approach from the first whistle.

And, if they do get their noses in front in the first 45 minutes, there will be a tasty profit for punters who get long of German first half supremacy at 0.5.

In their ten qualifying games Germany held half time leads on eight occasions.

They were suprisingly reluctant to push men forward from the start in their opening game against Portugal but that could be put down to early tournament nerves.

It was a far more typical German performance against the Dutch with Joachim Low's side going for the throat against defensively suspect opposition.

And it would be a surprise if they did anything different against the Danes, who have also looked unconvincing at the back.

The stakes will be just as high in the other match between Holland and Portugal and history suggests that tempers might boil over.

This is the first time the teams have played each other since the 2006 World Cup when a 1 0 victory for Portugal was marred by 16 yellow cards and four reds.

The bookings make up on that day was an unprecented 220 and anything similar would be great news for those who buy at 56 for this evening's clash.
