Existing laws not enforced; Your Shout.

RECENT articles concerning the non-prosecution of motorists illegally crossing the High Level Bridge due to staffing and workload pressures should not be looked at in isolation.

How many motorists have been prosecuted for illegally turning right on to Gallowgate from Percy Street? How many motorists have been prosecuted for illegally accessing Market Street? How many motorists have been prosecuted for travelling through the (30mph) pedestrian zone in front of the Theatre Royal? I will dare to say a very small number (despite the dedicated CCTV). I ask anyone to spend five minutes observing these particular streets and see for themselves the constant offending which I see when I walk pass these places every working day.

If the city council and police cannot control traffic irregularities in the city centre, how effective will they be when mandatory 20mph limits are applied in residential areas right across the city. I hold out very little hope.
