Exceedlingly good win for Mr Kipling!
With series leader Gary Wearmouth and Alan Nixon, Kipling's rival for second in the 12-event league overall, both riding in North Yorkshire - where they came first and second respectively - Kipling was in a league of his own.
It was a performance which belied his 12-month lay-off due to injury.
The 2001 North of England junior champion was keen to set a fast pace from the start and as the flag dropped he was at the head of the field with Johnson following.
Kipling led Johnson through at the end of the first lap by five seconds as third-placed Pete Wilkin (Cleveland Whs) remained the only other rider to stay within sight.
As the SIS pair began to pull away, Barry Kipling (SIS) and Steve Potter (Cleveland Whs) started a battle for fourth.
But by the third lap it became clear that's all it would be as Kipling was leading Johnson by 30 seconds, Wilkin a further 25 down again.
Wilkin began to pull time back on Johnson after the fifth lap as he reduced his deficit of 2.25 but for Wilkin the finish came too soon as he finished in the place he had held the entire event.
Fourth-placed Barry Kipling came in a further two minutes adrift but ensured SIS took three of the top four places, Matt Kipling beating Johnson by nearly a minute and a half.
NKEITH Murray came 17th in the last round of the National Trophy Cyclo-Cross at Abergavenny. The result sees him finish the series overall in 13th.
