Ex-servicement protest against non-payment of salaries.

PESHAWAR -- Ex-servicemen and special police officers who were recruited to counter terrorism back in 2009 staged a protest at the main gate of the Malik Saad police lines against non-payment of salaries from last five months and delay in extension of their tenure.

The protesters closed traffic coming from and going towards Civil Secretariat and police lines for around two hours.

The policemen who have been hired back in 2009 during the peak of militancy are serving with regular police force in different police stations of the provincial capital on contractual basis.

Later police line become a battle field as brawl started between the protesters and police personnel deployed at gate after which police took some of the protesters into custody and dispersed the demonstrators.

The protesters later record their protest in front of Peshawar Press Club.
