Ex-pub boss died after op.

A RETIRED publican died from complications after a liver biopsy, an inquest heard.

Victor Newton, 76, developed severe septicaemia secondary to cellulitis following the procedure at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton on March 4. e inquest at Middlesbrough Town Hall heard from a doctor at the hospital that these are "recognised complications" after a liver biopsy.

ey were noted during an assessment on March 8. Mr Newton, of Windmill Terrace, in Norton, also had a poor immune system and had been suering from lung cancer and leukaemia.

He died at 5am on March 9. Acting senior Teesside coroner Clare Bailey recorded the cause of death as "recognised complications of surgery."
