Ex-prisoner's drugs death.

A MAN died from a drugs overdose the day he was released from prison, an inquest heard yesterday.

Geraint Wyn Williams was found dead in an alleyway on Glanrafon Hill, Bangor on March 22 this year.

A friend, Roy Parry, told the Caernarfon hearing that the 22-year old had been addicted to heroin before his jail sentence but had had treatment for his drug abuse.

Mr Parry said he had found Mr Williams in the alleyway. He told North West Wales coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones: ``He was all cold and there was no pulse so I called an ambulance.''

Pathologist Tony Caslin said he found evidence of methodone and heroin in Mr Williams' body.

In response to questioning by the coroner Dr Caslin agreed that the dose may have been safe when Mr Williams was taking heroin but was at a dangerous level following his treatment.

The coroner recorded a verdict of death caused by the abuse of drugs.
