Ex-busker Glen's show for homeless.

OSCAR-WINNING singersongwriter Glen Hansard is to help the homeless by playing a benefit concert in Dublin next month.

The hometown hero takes to the Vicar Street stage on November 25, supported by New York-based Irish star Mark Geary, for the Dublin Simon Community and the Peter McVerry Trust.

Glen, 43, whose song Falling Slowly won an Oscar after being used in the Irish movie Once, is a former busker who met many homeless people during his time on the streets.

The Peter McVerry Trust has provided housing and support services for the homeless for 30 years.

The Simon Community provides a soup and sandwiches run in the capital 365 nights a year.

Tickets for the show go on sale on November 2.
