Ex-Rhyl ace Evans in Cofis switch.

CAERNARFON Town have signed one of North Wales football's most prolific strikers.

Former Rhyl, Porthmadog and Holyhead Hotspur front man Marc Evans has joined the Canaries, who will start the new season in the Huws Gray Alliance following last term's treble-winning heroics when they secured the Welsh Alliance title.

Evans was top scorer for future HGA champions Rhyl before unexpectedly returning to ex-club Gwalchmai at the back end of last season.

The Anglesey-based front man played for the Canaries in Tuesday night's first pre-season friendly at Bangor City.

Although Caernarfon lost 3-1, they put up an impressive overall performance.

"We'd like to thank Bangor for giving us an opportunity to play at Nantporth," said Cofis manager Lee Dixon.

"The new players are slotting in well. It's a really happy dressing room as everyone knows each other."

Some new faces were on show for the Canaries, including Evans, Chris Williams and former City favourite Dave Morley.

Ryan Edwards and Les Davies (2) provided the goals for Bangor, Darren Thomas replying for the visitors.

Caernarfon are home to Cheshire League side Rylands this Saturday (2.30pm).

Caernarfon season tickets - priced at PS75 adults and PS50 OAPs and children - are available from Mark Jones on 07846 054329.
