CAKE and plant lovers got on board with a double charity effort for the RNLI and MS Association.

People flocked to the Every Cloud shop in Wharfeside Buildings, Slaithwaite, to buy items and raise money for both the Multiple Sclerosis Association and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Volunteers from each charity hosted the event, with the lifeboat ladies serving tea, coffee and cakes and those from Multiple Sclerosis Association providing a large number of plants.

Susan Daker, of Golcar RNLI, said: "Marie from Every Cloud was kind enough to allow the use of her shop.

"It is hoped that we will be able to repeat this again next year.

"Shopkeepers in Slaithwaite were very generous providing raffle prizes."

An event for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution on Saturday, June 25, tea and cakes with Charlotte Merriman, will now take place on July 9.
