Arkansas Farm Bureau, which markets property and casualty coverage through two of the state's largest insurers, is moving its claims service center From North Little Rock to west Little Rock.

Farm Bureau's State Claims Director, Jim Morris, tells us he hopes within 30 days to open Farm Bureau's new claims service center in the old Arkansas headquarters of Tenet Healthcare Corp. at 12814 Cantrell Road.

Farm Bureau will lose the drive-in claims window available at its service center on Warden Road. But the new quarters offer more room -- 7,462 SF of usable office space.

The move merges the North Little Rock staff with some employees from other offices, bringing the total workforce in the new office to 18.

Farm Bureau owns Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. of Arkansas, a property insurer which ranked fifth in the state for property and casualty premiums in 1998. Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Co., a casualty company marketed through Farm Bureau,. ranked second in Arkansas with $185.5 million in 1998 premiums.

Tenet, which owns four Arkansas hospitals, announced this summer it was closing its Little Rock offices and consolidating workers to a regional office in St. Louis.
