Evans earns Toshack plaudits.

Iceland 0

Wales 1

WALES manager John Toshack hailed teenager Ched Evans' match-winning debut in Iceland last night.

The Manchester City youngster came off the bench just before the break to score the winner with virtually his first touch, the 1-0 victory extending Wales' unbeaten run to six matches.

Toshack said: "Ched did very well. He has a natural scoring talent and he took his chance really well. He can be very pleased with himself.

"But he is just one of several youngsters who produced good performances here.

"Jack Collison and Sam Vokes also made their debuts, and we had several of the Under-21 side out on the pitch in the end.

"But Ched stole the show. He has just signed a new contract at Manchester City and it is pleasing that they are showing confidence in him."
