European title shot Davies? Boxer Shorts.

GARY DAVIES, St Helens' former British champion, may have missed out on the call for a crack at his former crown later this month but he could well find himself in richer waters soon.

Current Lonsdale Belt holder Stuey Hall makes the first defence of his title against former Davies victim Martin Power on July 23 in a voluntary defence put together while Davies was on honeymoon two weeks ago.

However, the 10-3 27-year-old could well be in line for a shot at the European title next.

Current champion Jamie McDonnell made a successful first defence in his home town of Doncaster last weekend, stopping Italian Rodrigo Bracco in three rounds live on Sky Sports.

And while he has a pressing mandatory defence in the pipeline with Carmello Ballone, Davies could yet jump the queue and receive the ultimate wedding present.
