Ethiopia : Spire to offer first PV module turnkey assembly line in Ethiopia.

Spire Corp. has announced that the company will offer solar photovoltaic equipment and systems to the alliance of Florida based SKY Energy International Inc. (SKY) and Metals and Ethiopia based Engineering Corporation (METEC).

As per the contract, Spire will offer a 20MW Photovoltaic (PV) module turnkey assembly line, which will be deployed in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. The facility will be the first state-of-the-art module manufacturing line in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Government has revealed its aim to have 20% of its power capacity from solar energy in next 5 years.

Roger G. Little, Chairman and CEO of Spire, said, We are pleased to support SKY and METEC to bring solar to Ethiopia. Ethiopia is a nation where 80% of the population presently does not have access to electricity. Solar energy can deliver clean electricity to remote areas of Ethiopia thus improving the quality of life and ability to further their agricultural pursuits.
