Ethiopia : ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES completes construction of cold warehouse facility.

With at a cost of 63 million birr, Ethiopian Airlines has finished construction, which was started five months ago, of a cold warehouse facility at Bole International Airport.

Asmelash and Sons PLC, a local construction company carried out the civil work of the cold warehouse, while a German based company Celtic Cooling has provided and installed the cold room devices and accessories.

The facility, which has the capacity to serve four aircrafts simultaneously, will be utilized to store perishable cargo.

In related news, Ethiopian Airlines has started the construction of a modern aircraft maintenance hangar at a cost of USD 100 million. The under construction hangar will be able to house big aircrafts such as the Dreamliner, B777, B767 and B747 aircraft.

AVIC, a Chinese construction firm is selected for the work. The project is slated to be finished in two years.

Furthermore Ethiopian Airlines has leased three Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft from a Dublin based international aircraft leasing firm. Ethiopian leased three 787-8 aircraft will be received in January, March and April 2015 respectively.
