Etherington's strike is just enough for Fellside; DURHAM COUNTY FA UNDER-14 LEAGUE.

WHICKHAM Fellside edged out visitors Washington United 2-1 in the Premier Division.

For the first 15 minutes the home side was totally dominant but, despite creating several chances through good approach play, was unable to get the goal it deserved.

This allowed Washington to slowly find their feet and they fought their way back into the game.

It began to look as if the teams would go into the half-time break level at 0-0. However, in the 31st minute Cole Gregory chased an over-hit pass and his cross into the middle found Kieron Moat on the edge of the box. He turned his marker and fired a low shot into the left-hand corner of the Wewarsiders' net.

To their credit, Washington did not allow their heads to drop and grabbed an equaliser in the 42nd minute through Tyler Rouson.

However, this only seemed to spur on the home side and they quickly restored their lead through Josh Etherington right on half-time.

He pounced to score from close range after the away side had failed to clear their lines. With 20 minutes left Whickham brought on Charlie Peck who immediately combined well with Moat, whose audacious chip over the goalkeeper came back off the crossbar.

Hebburn Blues lost 4-1 at home to Bishop Auckland.

Sam Robertson scored for the South Tynesiders, Marcus Adams, Sam Horner, Gabriel McCall and Daniel Smith for Bishop.

Jarrow BOCA overcame Beamish 6-1.

In Division One, Durham United United Tigers enjoyed a walkover against East Durham.

Chester-le-Street Town triumphed 4-3 at Hetton Colliery while Sunderland St Marys prevailed 9-1 against Shildon.

Washington AFC defeated town neighbours Rickleton United 9-0. Willington Blues drew 3-3 at home to Jarrow Pumas, Josh Esteris with a hat-trick for the hosts.

Easington Colliery Whites secured a 6-2 success at South Durham Boys - Alex Errington and Owen Stangroom the players on target for South Durham.
