Established team offer service with a smile; In our series meeting estate agency teams, s homemaker visits one of the oldest established estate agency branches in Newcastle city centre.
How long has the branch been there: Ths e Ridley Place office opened on July 4, 1977, and was the first office of Pattinson, or Keith A Pattinson as it was then, with four properties for sale. The office has had a number of makeovers in the past 35 years and has grown as the company has. It is not only our city-centre branch, it is also the head office with accounts, property management and IT based at the offices above the branch. What the branch offers: We offer a complete property service - sales, lettings, property management, auction, independent financial advice, commercial, survey and conveyancing. We can even arrange removal service and to have broadband installed!
We are delighted that we receive a lot of positive feedback from vendors, landlords and tenants and take great pride that we receive a lot of repeat business.
Types of property you deal with: We have a huge range of properties, which is what makes the Ridley Place office a fantastic place to work. Being based in the centre of Newcastle, we have a lot of apartments, but they vary from period apartments to modern Quayside apartments. We have properties in Jesmond for families, young professionals and students along with Sandyford and Spital Tongues, and St Peter's Basin is a hidden gem.
Longest-serving member of the team: Valuer Sam Smith is part of the fixtures and fittings! Sam - with the exception of Keith - is the longestserving member of staff, having been with the company for 31 years.
Newest recruit: Georgia McIntosh (negotiator) is our lettings superstar, she has been with us for just over two years. She joined through an apprentice scheme and has proved herself a great asset to the branch. Other members: Branch manager Caroline Pattinson has spent more time than she cares to remember at Ridley Place, helping out after school and in the holidays before joining full-time after university.
She has worked in most departments, including national auction, the customer care centre and property management, and has managed a number of branches, before returning "home" to Ridley Place six months ago.
Senior valuer Darren Porter has worked for Pattinson for 10 years with a number of years spent in the West Road branch and regional auction before moving to Ridley Place.
Senior negotiator Cat Rouse has worked for seven years, gaining experience in the customer care centre and branch experience in Low Fell, Consett, Chester-le-Street and Durham.
Agent Ray McIntosh completes the team along with independent financial adviser Julie Croney. What team members get up to in their spare time: Cat teaches dancing in her dance studio in Pelton at the weekends and her students hold regular performances. Sam has two large dogs and is often spotted walking them across the Town Moor.
Caroline loves to travel, while Georgia loves to shop and spend time with her friends and family.
Darren enjoys mountain biking in the Northumberland countryside, while Ray is renowned for his cooking skills and is being encouraged to apply for the Great British Bake-Off.
Julie doesn''t have much spare time running her own mortgage advisory company, but she does tread the boards at The People's Theatre. Most unusual property you have sold: A house which had a yard big enough to house the 36ft boat the seller had built himself!
Most unusual thing one of the team has been asked: Sam valued a house for a fortune-teller who asked: "How much is my house worth?" The response had to be: "You''re the fortune teller, you tell me."
