Shi, Leiyu and Douglass A. Singh.
Jones & Bartlett
Shi (Johns Hopkins U., Baltimore, Maryland) and Singh's (Indiana U.-South Bend) book is a condensed and simplified version of their standard textbook on the US health care system, Delivering Health Care in America: A Systems Approach, Fifth Edition. It covers the essential elements of US health care but leaves out much of the data and technical details of the expanded version. Its easier-to-read format makes it suitable for junior college-level basic courses in US health care and as a supplement text in advanced courses in health policy. The updated third edition features the latest health statistics and census data; information on the Healthy People 2020 initiative; new material on health care reform, alternative medicine, disparity initiatives, health centers and safety-net providers; and an online access code to a companion website.
