Erbil security seizes one kilogram of mercury.

Asayish, ErbilAEs security department, has confiscated one kilogram of red mercury made in Germany. Red mercury is used in the construction of nuclear weapons.

A security force raided a house in the Ronaki neighborhood of Erbil city and arrested five people for mercury possession, read a statement by the security department. Three of the five are Kurdish and the others are Arab.

According to the statement, the mercury was brought from the middle of Iraq and belonged to the former Iraqi government, which was using it to build nuclear weapons. The kilogram of red mercury is worth $25 million USD.
