Equate gets RC endorsement.

Equate Petrochemical has secured Responsible Care (RC) 14001 certification, to become the first company in Kuwait to earn such a prestigious international endorsement.

The auditors representing RC noted that Equate has 'the best operational plant' they have ever visited.

'As it is a voluntary initiative, Equate is implementing RC as part of its unwavering commitment to the care of the Kuwaiti community and beyond including each and every individual by manufacturing safe products, ensuring environmental protection in industrial oper- ations and guaranteeing the overall wellbeing of all our surroundings,' said Equate president and chief executive Hamad Al Terkait.

Established in 1995, Equate is an international joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC).

Commencing production in 1997, Equate is the single operator of a fully integrated world-scale manufacturing facility producing over 5 million tonnes annually of petrochemical products.

Responsible Care is a voluntary initiative of the global chemical industry to safely handle products from their inception in the research laboratory, through manufacture and distribution, to ultimate reuse, recycle and disposal, and to involve the public in its decision-making processes.
