Epic scale.

Listening to Finnish metal band Nightwish's most recent album, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful,'' it's hard not to be struck by just how ably the musicians handle the sweeping, operatic music. Emppu Vuorinen's guitar, for instance, cuts through the album's towering sonic pillars with like a hot knife through butter, and vocalist Floor Jansen's voice is crystal-clear beautiful. Together, these musicians strive to create music on an epic scale, and it succeeds in being both breathtaking and dizzying. Nightwish performs with Delain at 7 p.m. April 11 at the Palladium, 261 Main St., Worcester. (508) 797-9696. $35 general admission; $180 VIP includes ticket, preshow meet and greet and a poster.
