Entertainment Email: Rapper Jentina is a country girl at heart.
RAPPER Jentina is about to hit the charts with debut single Bad Ass Strippa but fans of her gritty hip hop cut will be shocked when her album comes out in September.
For the 19-year-old, who grew up in Surrey, has included country and western Debut: Jentina tracks. Jentina and her 13 brothers and sisters grew up listening to country as their Romany mother was a fan.
She said: 'I was never allowed to listen to hip hop it was banned from my house because mum thought it was a bit rude.
'Country and western was strong for me and I still love it. When I sing a country song I don't sound street, I sing country the way it should be sung, with the right accent.
'There will definitely be some country stuff on the album, at least one track. But there are two slightly similar hip hop songs the rest is completely different.
'The album is going to seriously surprise people there are so many different beats on there for people to nibble at.'
Bad Ass Strippa is out next Monday and Jentina claims its urban groove is inspired by unlikely sources.
She said: 'Every song I've ever loved has been an influence.
'I've always loved Nina Simone, Tracey Chapman, Blondie, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton all these people create this weird sound which can be heard on Strippa.'
