REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1999--

Executive Committee Member Leverages Networking Expertise

to Develop Best Practices for Application Service Provider Market

Enterprise Networking Systems, Inc. (ENS), a leader in the development of next-generation network services, today announced that it has joined the fast-growing Application Service Provider (ASP) Industry Consortium as an executive member.

ENS plans to leverage its core networking expertise and broad cross-disciplinary knowledge of network-centric applications and partner with other ASP Industry Consortium members to develop standards and best practices in the areas of infrastructure, connectivity and security for the burgeoning ASP market.

ENS is rapidly scaling an innovative business model around network services that prepare networks for a rapid and reliable shift to e-business models. With experience and capabilities that span the full range of network and application services, ENS will help the ASP Industry Consortium fulfill its mission by sharing best practices and techniques needed to create a high performance network substructure that delivers the reliability, security and scalability that application service providers require.

"As the leader in mission-critical network services for e-business models, we are excited about the contributions we can make to the important work being done by the ASP Industry Consortium," said Gary Moore, CEO of ENS. "We look forward to working with consortium members to deliver ASP services to e-businesses around the world."

The Massachusetts-based ASP Industry Consortium has grown quickly in only a few months. Launched on May 11 at Networld + Interop in Las Vegas with 25 companies, the consortium now has more than 150 members, including ENS. The consortium will sponsor research, foster standards and work to educate the marketplace about the benefits of the evolving ASP delivery model. The consortium has formed four working committees, which are developing the consortium's operating plans: Education and Outreach, Research, Best Practices and Membership.
