Enjoy meals packed full of local goodness.

A FOODIE event to promote the use of locally sourced ingredients is taking place in Middlesbrough this weekend.

Growing Middlesbrough's Local Food Weekend will see a number of cafes, restaurants and food outlets in the town join forces to serve up dishes using local ingredients.

So if you fancy a meal which has been prepared and grown locally, here is the list of the Middlesbrough eateries taking part so far: TP Coffee House and Cafe; The Curing House; The Olde Young Tea House; The Oven; Woodlands Coffee House; Pixies Diner; Bedford Street Coffee House, and The Garden, The Student Centre, Teesside University.

Joe Dunne, from Growing Middlesbrough, said: "The outlets will be serving at least one dish made from a least two local ingredients.

So many food outlets already do this but this is about raising awareness and trying to get other restaurants on board."

He added: "We know there is a real desire for this. We conducted a survey and 95% said it was important the food they buy is locally sourced.

"And it isn't just about buying local, it is also about being able to go out and still be able to eat locally sourced food."
