England are through to the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championship after defeating Spain.

Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce had controversially dropped Arsenal winger Theo Walcott but England were ahead five minutes after he came off the bench, with Fraizer Campbell netting.

James Milner won the ball in Spanish territory and poked the ball through for Campbell, who cut inside Garcia before planting his finish in the bottom corner.

Walcott set up the second goal, racing behind the Spain defence by outpacing Garcia, then cutting the ball back for Milner to smash home for a 2-0 victory.

It was a chance for Milner to redeem himself after missing a spot-kick in the first half.

But the Aston Villa midfielder also picked up a booking, which rules him out of the Germany game.
