England '18 bid looking a Quinner; FOOTBALL.

ENGLAND'S campaign to host the 2018 World Cup went to penalties yesterday as Fifa delegates enjoyed an impromptu shoot-out.

Premier League club chairman Niall Quinn hosted the visit at his Sunderland side's Stadium of Light.

The former Arsenal and Republic of Ireland striker persuaded the six-strong team to whip off their jackets and lay them down as posts for a fun kickabout with local schoolchildren.

Quinn, 43, said: "There was a chance to kick a ball into a net and their eyes lit up."

The delegation was on a tour of English stadiums including Manchester United's Old Trafford and Newcastle's St James' Park.

Deputy PM Nick Clegg this week described England's case as "unbeatable".
