Engineers go full steam ahead for hospice charity.
RAILWAY enthusiasts are planning to climb aboard a 1/12th scale model steam locomotive to raise money for charity.Last year the same members of Wrexham Society of Model Engineers raised pounds 765 for Nightingale House Hospice and will be trying to top that on June 5.
Joint organiser Dave Wilson will take it in turns to drive the model locomotive round an 800ft track at the Pant Yr Ochain Hotel,Gresford.
As the train passes a twelfth of the distances from London Euston to Rugby,Crewe, Chester and Holyhead, members will put up different station names on the model track.
The Wrexham model engineers hope to do the journey in 3hrs 50 mins in their miniature,coal-fired steam locomotive.
Mr Wilson said: ``Last year was absolutely fantastic. We averaged the equivalent of 75mph.''
Donations to the hospice can be made on 01978 750434.
